Local McDonald’s Business Owner, David Bear, Named 2025 Marquis Who’s Who Distinguished Leader

South Elgin, IL — Bear Family Restaurants President David A. Bear has been selected as a 2025 Marquis Who’s Who Distinguished Leader, an honor recognizing exceptional professionals who have made significant contributions in their fields and communities. The announcement was celebrated with a quarter-page feature in The Wall Street Journal on July 10, 2025.

As the head of Bear Family Restaurants, a McDonald’s franchise organization established in 1967 in Elgin and now spanning 30 restaurants across the Chicago suburbs, Bear leads a team of 1,500 employees and has helped grow the company from four locations to thirty. Known for his deep commitment to community service and team empowerment, Bear attributes this recognition to the collective efforts of his staff, family, and the guests they serve.

“This is a meaningful milestone, and I’m honored to share it with our incredible team and the communities we call home,” Bear said. “It’s a reflection of what we’ve built together - not just a business, but a family that serves with purpose.”

Bear’s journey from working in his family’s first restaurant as a teenager to leading a multi-location operation has been defined by visionary growth, philanthropic engagement, and an unwavering dedication to people.
