The city of Elgin will host its annual Fourth of July celebration on Friday, July 4, with a full day of events including a parade, pet parade, live music performances and a fireworks show.
The celebration will begin with the Fourth of July parade at 9 a.m. at the intersection of Slade and Douglas avenues. The parade will proceed south on Douglas and conclude at Highland Avenue and Division Street, near City Hall, with the Elgin Symphony Orchestra serving as grand marshal. It is expected to wrap up by 11 a.m.
For the second year, Elgin will host a pet parade, which will step off at 9 a.m. from the NENA Butterfly Garden near the intersection of Douglas Avenue and Ann Street. The parade will follow the same route as the main parade and end near City Hall. Registration and additional information are available at elginil.gov/july4.
Following the parade, festivities will continue at Festival Park, 132 S. Grove Ave., and will include food trucks, children’s activities, games and live music. The concert lineup includes: - 5–6 p.m. – The Moods
- 6:30–7:30 p.m. – The LaBamba Show
- 7:30 p.m. – Pie Eating Contest
- 8:00–9:20 p.m. – The Ultimate Elvis Experience starring Shawn Klush
The fireworks show is scheduled to begin around 9:20 p.m. and will last 15 to 20 minutes.
This year, guests can enhance their Fourth of July celebration by purchasing exclusive access to Elgin’s VIP Lounge Area for $25 per ticket. The VIP experience includes reserved bar access, lawn seating, restrooms, and an elevated viewing deck featuring umbrellas, ambient lighting and excellent views of the stage and fireworks. Tickets are required for individuals aged 12 and older, while up to two children under 12 can enter for free when accompanied by a ticketed adult. Please note that chairs are not provided, so guests are encouraged to bring their own. VIP tickets can be purchased online.
