Elgin Launches Active Mobility Plan, Invites Public Input
The city of Elgin has officially kicked off the planning process for its Active Mobility Plan, a long-term initiative aimed at improving sidewalks, bicycle lanes, and accessible pathways across the community. This comprehensive plan will act as a roadmap to enhance connectivity, safety, and accessibility for residents of all ages and abilities.
As part of this initial phase, the city is inviting residents to participate in a short community survey to share their experiences and perspectives on walking, biking, and using mobility devices in Elgin. The feedback gathered will help shape the vision and priorities of the plan. The survey is available online at https://engage.elginil.gov/elgin-active-mobility-plan

"The Active Mobility Plan is an exciting opportunity to envision how Elgin can better support safe, inclusive and connected travel for everyone," said Sustainability Manager Kristin Iftner. "We want the community’s voice to guide the plan’s priorities and ensure it truly reflects local needs."
The plan builds on Elgin’s existing infrastructure and previous planning efforts to support healthier lifestyles, environmental sustainability, and equitable transportation access.
