HIghlights of 2025 include an 8% decrease in the number of Group A offenses from 2024 and a record low of 24 shots fired incidents compared to the previous year of 65 incidents which is a 63% decrease. 

Chief Lalley stated: "As we begin 2026, I am deeply grateful for the dedication of both the department and Elgin community in supporting one another, and helping to ensure we all shape a better tomorrow, for all. It will take each and everyone of us to continue to nourish our relationships and it is through these relationships, to include our ability to foster trust, that we are able to effectively solve crimes, implement new programs, reduce crimes, and much more. There is no doubt that the things we do today will have the most profound ripple effect tomorrow. The department is committed to ensuring that these ripples are filled with hope, understanding, professionalism, and the best service to our community."
