Organization: Elgin Master Chorale Location: Elgin, IL (Elgin Community College) Position Type: 

Paid Internship Compensation: $15/hour

Hours: Up to 20 hours per week, flexible schedule of 3-4 days per week

Duration: 10 weeks (Starting Monday, May 19)

Position Overview

Elgin Master Chorale (EMC) seeks a motivated Operations Intern (ages 14–22) to assist with 

day-to-day summer operations and special projects supporting the Board of Directors, Executive 

Director, and Staff. This internship offers a hands-on opportunity to learn about arts 

administration, event coordination, and nonprofit operations in a supportive and collaborative 

environment.

Responsibilities

● Assist in grant research and preparation for submission.

● Support rehearsals, workshops, and auditions through planning and setup.

● Recatalogue EMC's music library, organizing and updating records.

● Provide general administrative support such as data entry, correspondence, and file management.

● Collaborate on special projects and other duties as assigned by staff or the Executive Director.

Qualifications

● Ages 14–22, with a strong interest in arts administration, nonprofit work, or music.

● Excellent organizational and time-management skills.

● Strong written and verbal communication abilities.

● Ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented environment.

● Basic computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Office, Google Workspace).

● Willingness to learn and take on new challenges.

● Previous experience in music or arts-related activities is a plus but not required.

● Ages 14–17: Submit a cover letter, resume, and three letters of recommendation.

●  Ages 18–22: Submit a cover letter, resume, three references, and one letter of recommendation 

from a recent supervisor or educator.

Selection Process

● Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until the deadline: April 15, 2025.

● Selected candidates will be invited to a Zoom interview with the EMC interview panel.
