Are you a creative, hands-on person with a passion for bringing the library to life for our youngest customers? If you are passionate about early literacy and enjoy serving young children and families? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you! We are looking for a friendly and enthusiastic individual with excellent communication and customer service skills to join our Branch Services team.  The successful candidate will be an energetic team player who makes customers feel at home, and – most importantly- enjoys working with children of all ages.

In this role, you will:

• Coordinate, plan, and present early childhood programs and events at both branch locations, including weekly storytimes, play programs, and crafts.
• Oversee children’s spaces to ensure a pleasant and playful learning environment.
• Facilitate age-appropriate self-directed programming activities.
• Provide basic readers’ advisory and reference assistance to children, teens, and adults.
• Assist customers with computer applications, eReaders, and other mobile devices.
• Serve as Person-in-Charge in the absence of the Branch Manager.

Requirements: 

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience working with children in group settings.
• Early literacy experience is desired.
• Previous library and customer service experience preferred, especially previous experience working with children.
• Knowledge and experience with basic computer and mobile device applications
• Bilingual English/Spanish language skills are a plus.
• Must have reliable transportation to travel between the branch locations.

Full-time position (37.5 hours/week) - Schedule will include weekday, evening, and weekend hours and will require travel between branch locations.
