We are looking to add a Certified Ambulance Coder to our Billing and Coding team.
THIS IS NOT A REMOTE POSITION.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure 100% accountability of all reports in your possession at all times.
- Consult with Office Supervisor, Coding Specialist or Trainer for guidance on appropriate ICD-10 coding or other data entry questions, as needed.
- Enter, if available, third-party insurance information to the report.
- Safeguard all patient information by keeping all written and verbal communications confidential. Ensure all actions are in compliance with HIPAA and other appropriate federal and state laws and regulations.
- Sorts, organizes and prioritizes documents for processing
- Prepares claims for pre and post approvals for payment
- Performs medical records cycle
- Processes wheelchair claims/assigns payor/payment code
- Maintain customer information
- Send billing reminders
- Create customer invoices
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors and directors
Skills
- Proven experience as Certified Billing and Coding for Ambulance Necessity.
- Proficient in English (oral and written)
- Outstanding organizational and multitasking abilities
- Active listener with excellent communication skills
- Ability to waik, stand, sit, talk, hear, see, reach and use hands and fingers bend, stretch, twist and kneel
- Ability to use hands and fingers to operate a telephone, computer and keyboard, copier, shredder, printer, etc.
- Ability to perform close vision work
- Ability to reach both high and low drawers or shelves
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds (light to moderate lifting may be required at times)
- Ability to operate a variety to office equipment such as, copier, shredder, computer, calculator, cellular phone, desk phone
- Regular, predictable attendance is required
- Ability to sit at a computer terminal for long periods of time
Qualifications
- High school or equivalent
- Medical terminology: 1 year (preferred)
- Certified Professional Coder/Certified Ambulance Coder (required)
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $18.00 per hour: pay increase with experience.

- 8 hour shift

Experience:
- Accounts receivable: 2 years (Required)
- EMS: 1 year (Preferred)
