JOB SUMMARY: Provide counseling services to Community Crisis Center clients who are victims of domestic violence and sexual assault, primarily to Spanish speaking clients.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide counseling and support services on an individual and group basis as needed to agency DSV clients, primarily to Spanish speaking clients.

Prepare proper documentation for DSV client files, i.e. intake information, process notes, etc. Continued maintenance of case files.

Receive crisis calls and provide crisis intervention counseling as necessary.

Enter client statistical data into the computer when required.

Must maintain confidentiality of services.

Remain aware of current developments in the fields of domestic violence and sexual assault and other counseling areas and cultural diversity issues that pertain to agency services.

Remain aware of area and community agencies providing services for agency clients.

Attend staff meetings as designated unless the Executive Director waives this requirement.

Perform other duties as requested.

JOB RELATIONSHIPS:

Supervised by the Director of Client Services.

Work cooperatively with all agency employees, interns and volunteers.

Must demonstrate courtesy and respect towards all fellow employees, interns, volunteers, visitors, and clients.

Interact with other community agencies in the area served.

No supervisory responsibilities.

ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Education – minimum of a Master’s Degree in social services, counseling, or related field.  Must have basic computer skills. Clinical license preferred.

Experience – hotline and shelter work an asset.

Training – upon employment will receive a minimum of forty (40) hours specialized training in domestic violence as well as other areas of service provided by the agency. CDVP or within (1) year of hire.

Technical Skills – good verbal and written communication and listening skills in both English and Spanish; good organizational skills; ability to prioritize responsibilities; display empathetic understanding of a diverse population of clients.

Social Skills – must be able to respond appropriately in emergency situations, must demonstrate flexibility and a teamwork capacity within the agency; established leadership skills; must function well independently with minimal supervision.

Physical Requirements – must have visual and auditory acuity; must be able to answer the phone clearly and provide crisis counseling on the phone; must be able to enter information into client files.

Transportation Requirements – must be willing and able to travel throughout the community; if use a privately-owned automobile, and must have a valid driver’s license, must provide proof of current automobile liability insurance coverage and annual renewal documentation thereafter.

Attendance – must maintain an acceptable attendance record.

* Sign on bonus- $1500, $750 on second paycheck and the other half at 6 months*
