Position Summary

This team-oriented, exceptionally organized, coachable, and empathetic individual is responsible for supporting the Development Team’s fundraising and event planning efforts. In addition, the Development Assistant will manage in-house graphic design, social media, and website content. They will also support the Grants and Reporting Manager and represent PADS of Elgin in the community.

Hours 40 hours

Duties and Responsibilities

Provide support for all fundraising efforts.

Maintain and update website content.

Research, write, design, and publish a monthly newsletter for supporters of PADS of Elgin.

Research and coordinate one-off fundraising opportunities.

Develop social media graphics and content using Canva Pro for Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and X.

Collaborate with outside vendors for events and marketing projects.

Coordinate procurement of auction items for fundraising events with the Development Manager and fundraising committees.

Solicit in-kind donations for guests and shelter needs via social media.

Speak on behalf of PADS of Elgin at community events.

Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in human services, education, event planning, marketing, communications, or a related field required.

At least 2 years of experience in Development or related experience.

Team-oriented, exceptionally organized, coachable, and empathetic individual who can work with a variety of departments, personalities, and priorities.

Valid driver's license, vehicle insurance, and personal vehicle required.

Self-motivated, works well under pressure and can handle several projects at one time.

Interest and enthusiasm in fundraising and working with people.

Demonstrate alignment with our mission statement to provide compassionate care and support for individuals experiencing homelessness.

Excellent interpersonal and intercultural communication skills.

Excellent oral communication skills with the ability to participate in public speaking events.

Excellent written communication, research, and organizational skills.

Must be proficient with Canva, Microsoft Word, and Excel.

Experience with graphic design preferred.

Must have experience with WordPress or similar website development platforms.

Experience with fundraising databases, Constant Contact, and a CRM preferred.

Ability to speak knowledgeably and enthusiastically about PADS, its mission, programs, and initiatives.

Able to use good judgment and identify changing program needs.

Must be available to work some weekends and evenings as required.

Must be willing and able to drive personal vehicle to meetings, events, and activities throughout the service area.

Salary: From $42,000.
