Elgin Youth Symphony Orchestra presents "Palette"
Sunday, March 9, 2025 (7:00 PM - 8:30 PM) (CDT)
Description
Banish black-and-white and embrace technicolor in the Elgin Youth Symphony Orchestra’s March concerts. With Palette, EYSO ensembles showcase the full spectrum of orchestral color and texture. George Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue transports you to bustling, light filled New York City in our 7:00 concert, while the music of Jennifer Higdon and Claude Debussy conjures the soft swoops and light colors of impressionist painting, and EYSO’s youngest Primo students show-off their skills alongside the Youth Symphony in Aaron Copland’s rodeo-inspired Hoe-Down. Philharmonia travels to Paris in our 4:30 concert with another jazzy Gershwin excursion, and at 1:30, Sinfonia takes you to the circus with big top music you’ll recognize immediately, while Prelude performs a not so Simple Symphony.
Orchestral music is full of color and texture, and the students of EYSO are ready to show you just what’s possible. Explore Palette on Sunday, March 9 at the Elgin Community College Arts Center.
