Elgin's Public Works Open House Returns on May 18 Elgin, IL - The City of Elgin's Public Works Department is excited to bring back its open house event on Saturday, May 18, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Public Services Building, located at 1900 Holmes Road in Elgin. The public is invited to attend this free, family-friendly event which provides the opportunity to learn more about the public works systems and services that are vital to the community's health, safety, and well-being. 

During the open house, visitors can take a self-guided tour through the public works facility and view specialized equipment like vehicles, sewer cameras, engineering displays, and water distribution equipment. The city's emergency operations vehicle will also be available to tour. Children can enjoy rides in the snow plow trucks, street sweepers, and even a small train. There will be free food and giveaways available.
