Elgin, IL – The City of Elgin is excited to announce its Fourth of July celebrations, featuring a parade, pet parade, concert, and fireworks on Thursday, July 4th, 2024.

Parade Details
The parade will commence at 9:00 a.m. at the intersection of Slade and Douglas Avenue and will conclude at Grove and Division Street, near City Hall. Spectators can find seating along Douglas Avenue from Slade Avenue to the end of the route. This year, the Gail Borden Public Library will serve as the Grand Marshal, adding a special touch to the event, and the parade is expected to conclude around 11:00 a.m. To participate in the parade, registration is required and will close on June 6, 2024. Those interested in being part of the parade can fill out the form at elginil.gov/july4.

This year, Elgin will host its inaugural Pet Parade! The Pet Parade will kick off at 8:30 a.m. at Douglas Avenue near Ann Street and will end at Elgin City Hall (150 Dexter Court). The pet parade will culminate with a Parade Donation Extravaganza at City Hall. Special guests from Dogtopia will be present and all donations will benefit the Anderson Animal Shelter. Those interested in being part of the pet parade must register ahead of time. Registration is open until June 21, 2024. For more information, visit elginil.gov/petparade.

Fourth of July Concert and Fireworks
The Fourth of July celebration will continue at Festival Park with music, food trucks, children's activities, photo opportunities, tabletop games, a pie-eating contest (sponsored by Paul's Family Restaurant), and a spectacular fireworks display. The event will take place at 132 S. Grove Ave, Elgin, IL. Musical performances include the following bands:

5:00 - 6:00 pm - Second Hand Soul
6:30 - 8:00 pm - iPop
8:30 - 10:00 pm - American Vinyl All Star Band
Fireworks will take place at approximately 9:20 and last 15-20 minutes.

All parking in Downtown Elgin is free, but with street closures for the parade, arriving early is recommended. In addition to ample street parking (even with the closed streets), Downtown Elgin offers plenty of free parking in lots and decks throughout the area.
