U-46 Financial Services Department Receives ‘Accent on Achievement’ 

Department honored for its excellence in financial reporting

ELGIN - School District U-46’s Financial Services Department was honored with an “Accent on Achievement” during Monday night’s Board of Education meeting for receiving two national recognitions from the Association of School Business Officials International: the Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting and the Meritorious Budget Award.

The awards recognize U-46’s commitment to financial transparency, accountability, and sound financial management. The Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting recognizes the quality and transparency of the district’s Annual Comprehensive Financial Report, while the Meritorious Budget Award recognizes excellence in the development and presentation of the district’s annual budget. Together, the awards recognize the district’s efforts to provide clear, accurate, and meaningful financial information and demonstrate responsible stewardship of public resources.

This is the 10th year in a row the district has received the two honors.

“This recognition reflects the strong partnership across our district and the hard work of our Financial Services team,” said Robyn Cornelissen, executive director of Financial Services. “We are proud of the work our team does to support the district and provide the financial information needed to make sound decisions for our students and community.”

Cornelissen, Financial Comptroller Trinette Ohlrich, and Procurement Coordinator Danise Smith accepted the Accent on Achievement Award on behalf of the department.

School District U-46 serves families in 11 communities: Bartlett, Elgin, Hanover Park, South Elgin, Streamwood and Wayne, as well as portions of Carol Stream, Hoffman Estates, St. Charles, Schaumburg, and West Chicago. In total, the District encompasses 90 square miles within the Fox River Valley, approximately 45 minutes northwest of downtown Chicago, and includes communities within Cook, DuPage and Kane counties.
