Honoring Black History Month
February is Black History Month, a time to celebrate the rich history, leadership, and resilience of Black Americans and to reflect on ongoing efforts to improve health and well-being for all. Black leaders and communities have played a strong role in shaping public health in the United States, from pioneering medical research and health education to advocating for equity and access to care.
Black History Month offers a time to recognize and address health disparities affecting Black communities, including higher rates of chronic disease, challenges in maternal and infant health, and unequal access to care.
