Elgin Ranked Among Best Places to Live by U.S. News & World Report
The City of Elgin has been named the Number 6 Best Place to Live in Illinois by U.S. News & World Report in its newly released 2026–2027 Best Places to Live rankings. Elgin also earned the Number 74 spot nationally, placing Elgin among the top communities in the country.
The annual rankings evaluate communities across the United States based on quality of life, value, desirability, job market and overall livability. Elgin’s recognition reflects the city’s strong sense of community, diverse neighborhoods, growing business environment, access to parks and trails, arts and culture, and continued investment in public services, infrastructure and quality of life.
Located along the Fox River, Elgin continues to distinguish itself as one of Illinois’ largest and most distinctive cities.
