ELGIN MAKES IT EASIER TO TRACK CITY CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS 

Residents, businesses and commuters can now receive email updates on city-led road and infrastructure improvements through the City of Elgin’s new online Construction Projects Hub.

Through the new hub, users can choose the construction updates they want to receive directly by email. Those who want a broader look at construction activity across Elgin can follow the main Construction Projects page to receive roundup updates on active projects. Those interested in a specific project, neighborhood or travel route can follow individual project pages to receive updates focused only on those projects.

The Elgin Construction Projects Hub also features an interactive map of active construction projects across the city. Users can view where projects are happening throughout Elgin, then click into individual project pages for more detailed information about specific work areas, project overviews, traffic impacts, updates and more.

“Construction can affect our daily routines, commutes and access to homes and businesses,” said Mike Pubentz, director of public services. “Elgin is making it easier to track city construction projects by giving residents the option to receive email updates on the projects that matter most to them. The new Elgin Construction Projects Hub helps the community plan ahead, understand what work is taking place and stay informed as projects move forward.”

Project updates may include construction milestones, anticipated traffic impacts, detours, access changes, schedule adjustments, upcoming construction activities, photos and other information to help the public understand what is happening and why.

To view and receive construction updates, visit engage.elginil.gov/construction. From there, users can follow the main Elgin Construction Projects page for broader project roundups or follow individual project pages for updates on specific projects.

Engage Elgin will serve as a centralized location for ongoing construction information throughout the season.
