Carol Gieske Annonces Retirement from the Elgin Area Chamber

After years of dedicated leadership and service to the business community, Carol Gieske, President & CEO of the Elgin Area Chamber of Commerce, has announced her upcoming retirement.
“Leaders of organizations should strive to leave them in a better position than what they encountered,” said Steve Migala, chair, Elgin Area Chamber of Commerce. “By any measure of this goal, Carol Gieske has succeeded in accomplishing it as President and CEO of our Elgin Area Chamber. Under her guidance, our Chamber has experienced exceptional growth, and she has enhanced its reputation in the community. Being a consummate networker, Carol has elevated the Chamber’s role in providing value to our members, keeping people at the center of her work. On behalf of the Board of Directors, we are deeply grateful for her vision, her integrity, and the legacy she leaves behind.”
During her tenure, Gieske strengthened the Chamber’s impact, advanced economic development initiatives, and positioned the organization as a vital resource and connector for local businesses. Her leadership has guided the Chamber through growth, innovation, and meaningful community engagement.
“Serving the community has been one of the greatest honors of my career,” said Gieske. “I am proud of what we’ve accomplished together and confident in the Chamber’s continued success.”
Prior to her work with the Chamber, Gieske led the Saint Joseph Hospital Foundation, where she oversaw a highly successful capital campaign that raised more than $11 million for major healthcare expansions. She also served as CEO of the United Way of Elgin, helping raise more than $44 million during her tenure to support local social service organizations.
A highly engaged and respected community leader, Gieske has received numerous honors for her impact and leadership—reflecting a career defined by service, collaboration, and measurable results that have strengthened the greater Elgin area. She continues to serve on multiple boards and initiatives advancing education, healthcare, community service, and leadership development, underscoring her long-standing commitment to the community.
The Chamber’s Board of Directors will begin identifying its next leader, with a focus on ensuring a seamless transition and continued momentum.
