About

The First Baptist Church of Elgin, located at 1735 W Highland Ave, is a long-standing and active faith community committed to transforming lives and families through the Gospel of Jesus Christ. With a history stretching back over 175 years (their original log cabin church was at DuPage and Geneva streets, and they moved to their current location in 1970), FBCE emphasizes a balance of worship, learning, serving, and sharing.

The church offers a welcoming atmosphere, encouraging a "come as you are" approach to worship. Services feature a blend of contemporary praise songs and traditional hymns, and teaching focuses on making the Bible accessible and applicable to everyday life. They provide questions for families to discuss throughout the week, fostering continued spiritual growth at home.

First Baptist Church of Elgin is dedicated to meeting the needs of all ages through its various ministries:

  • FBCE Kids: A vibrant ministry for children from birth through 6th grade, designed to nurture curiosity for God and support families in discipleship at home through teaching, songs, and activities.
  • FBCE Students: Programs for middle and high school students aimed at guiding them in developing personal faith, asking questions, and listening to God's leading in their lives.
  • Adult Ministries: Opportunities for adults to grow in faith through discipleship, mentoring, encouragement, and Bible study, fostering lasting friendships.
  • Wee Care: A Mother's Day Out program for ages 12 months to Pre-K, offering age-based learning, chapel, and various seasonal activities.
