About
This preserve is particularly interesting as it's divided into two distinct sections by the Fox River, offering different experiences on its east and west banks. The west side of Elgin Shores is characterized by its connection to a complex of state properties and direct adjacency to the Fox River. A significant portion of this side is leased to the City of Elgin for Little League fields, showcasing a blend of recreational sports and natural open space. The east side is primarily dedicated to its trail system, with the renowned Fox River Trail seamlessly joining the Illinois Prairie Path at this point. This junction makes Elgin Shores a major hub for trail users, allowing them to continue their journey north into Elgin or south towards Wheaton and beyond.
