Job Title: Receptionist / Legal Administrative Assistant
Position Summary
Bazos, Freeman, Schuster, Reinke & Pope, LLC in Elgin is seeking a professional, detail-oriented receptionist to serve as the first point of contact for our law firm. This role combines traditional front-desk responsibilities with light legal administrative support, requiring discretion, and strong communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet clients in a professional and welcoming manner
- Answer and route incoming phone calls accurately and courteously
- Perform general administrative tasks such as distributing mail, handling deliveries, copying, scanning, and filing
- Assist with preparing, proofreading, and formatting legal correspondence and documents
- Track deadlines, court dates, and appointments as directed
- Handle confidential information with discretion and strict adherence to privacy rules
- Assist with billing support, client intakes, and document retrieval as needed
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Prior experience as a receptionist or administrative assistant, preferably in a legal or professional services environment
- Basic knowledge of legal terminology, court processes, or legal documentation
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel) and office equipment
Preferred
- Experience working in a law firm or legal office
- Familiarity with legal case management or document management software
- Associate’s degree or paralegal certificate
Compensation is commensurate with experience.
