Weekend Case Manager/Shift Supervisor

JOB SUMMARY: The Case Manager Shift Supervisors will supervise and provide counseling, case management, and advocacy services to Community Crisis Center clients. Their primary focus is to oversee the delegation and provision of services to hotline, shelter, and walk-in clients. 

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Supervise the case management work on a specific shift, giving direction and support to Case Managers, making decisions regarding shift work when necessary.

Provide training to new case managers and interns in the knowledge of agency services and the skills required to provide such services.

Responsible for evaluating the employees working on the specific shift.  Including monthly supervision of supervisees and submitting written documentation of meeting.

Responsible for shift employees understanding and adhering to agency policies, reporting unresolved issues to appropriate personnel, acting as liaison between Administration and Case Managers.

Assist the Residential Services Manager in scheduling/coverage needs for shift(s).

Provide supervision of all agency-related services, working with the community, direct service staff, and volunteers in the absence of pertinent administrative staff.

Facilitate the weekly shift meeting.

Must maintain confidentiality of services.

Responsible for the maintenance of the shelter when the Facility Manager is not on duty.

Communicate pertinent information with the next shift’s supervisor.

Perform the duties of supervisees as needed.

Remain aware of current developments in the fields of domestic violence, sexual assault, and other counseling areas and cultural sensitivity issues that pertain to agency services

Remain aware of area and community agencies providing services for agency clients, networking with community professionals when required to provide good service to clients.

Must remain on duty until the next shift comes to work.

Attend staff meetings as designated unless the Executive Director waives this requirement.

Maintain accurate records and provide monthly board reports and others as requested.

Perform other duties as assigned.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES PER SPECIFIC SHIFT:

12 - 8 Shift

1.   Responsible for the documentation system, making sure it is up-to-date and files are complete and orderly.

2.    Responsible for the completion of the end of the month work.

3.   Responsible for the completion of all monthly reports as instructed by the Manager of Information Technology.

4.   Responsible for the accurate collection of statistics by all shifts, reporting all errors found to the Manager of Information Technology.

Weekend Supervisor

To coordinate the activities of the shelter over the weekend to create a comfortable supportive environment that re-energizes clients for the work week.

JOB RELATIONSHIPS:

Supervised by the Residential Services Manager.

Supervises Case Managers on the shift worked.

Work with all agency employees, volunteers, and student interns as necessary.

Interact with other community agencies in the area served.

ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:

 

 1.   Education – Must have a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in human/social services or the equivalent.  Must be a Certified Domestic Violence Professional upon hire or must pass the CDVP exam within (1) one year of hire.

 2.   Experience – Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in social service; hotline and shelter work an asset.

 3.   Training – Upon employment will receive a minimum of forty (40) hours of specialized training in sexual assault and forty (40) hours in of specialized training in domestic violence, specialized training in performance evaluation and supervision, as well as in other areas of service provided by agency including on the job training as needed.

 4.   Technical Skills – Requires good written, verbal and communication skills; must have good listening skills; good management and organizational skills, as well as basic computer skills. Must have the ability to prioritize responsibilities; must have a knowledge of area services for clients in the program.

 5.   Social Skills – Must be able to respond appropriately in emergency situations; must demonstrate flexibility and a teamwork capacity within the agency; must be able to work well independently; must be able to prioritize responsibilities. Must demonstrate courtesy and respect to all fellow employees, interns, volunteers, visitors, and clients.

 6.   Physical Requirements – Must have visual and auditory acuity; must be able to perform building walk-throughs for security checks and evacuations; must be able to lift up to thirty (30) pounds; must be able to answer the phone clearly and provide crisis intervention counseling on the phone; must be able to read; must be able to enter information into client files.

7.   Transportation Requirements – Must be willing and able to travel throughout the area; if employee uses a privately-owned vehicle, must have a valid driver’s license and must provide proof of current automobile liability insurance coverage.

 8.  Attendance – Must maintain an acceptable attendance record.
