The Marklund Wasmond Center provides residential services, special education, as well as Community Day Services to children and adults with severe and profound developmental disabilities. Originally founded in 1958 by Pat and Bob Wasmond of Elgin as the Little Angels Center of Exceptional Care, the Wasmond Center was renamed in 2016 after merging with Marklund, a nonprofit organization. Established in 1954, Marklund and has locations in Geneva and Bloomindale in addition to Elgin.
The $17.4 million renovation and expansion not only allows Marklund to welcome additional residents and students but to make it one of the finest, state-of-the-art facilities in Illinois serving the medically complex/developmental disabilities population.
