Women's Leadership Circle June Member Spotlight: Emily Romin

Emily Romin, Administrative Coordinator at Food for Greater Elgin, plays an important role in keeping the organization moving forward. From administrative support, donor and financial recordkeeping, and board coordination to food purchasing and special projects, Emily helps ensure the organization can effectively serve the community. She also enjoys connecting with local partners and promoting Food for Greater Elgin’s mission.

Food for Greater Elgin is dedicated to reducing food insecurity throughout the Greater Elgin area. As a choice pantry, the organization allows individuals and families to select foods that fit their household needs, dietary preferences, and cultural traditions. Through partnerships with local businesses, schools, organizations, and volunteers, Food for Greater Elgin is creating greater access to nutritious food while building stronger community connections.

Emily’s own journey has shaped her passion for nonprofit work. After spending several years caring for her mother during her battle with cancer, Emily returned to the workforce following her mother’s passing. Navigating grief while beginning a new career was challenging, but the experience strengthened her resilience, compassion, and perspective.

Today, Emily is proud to have built a career focused on making a meaningful difference. Having worked in the nonprofit sector since she was 18, she believes success is measured not only by accomplishments, but by the positive impact we have on others.

Outside of work, Emily brings her creativity to nearly everything she does. She paints, sings, plays piano, and has performed in theater productions. Her love of art and music adds another dimension to her approach to life and work.

And her dream destination? Italy. Emily dreams of exploring historic cities, admiring the architecture and scenery, enjoying authentic Italian cuisine, and visiting a vineyard—a perfect combination of her favorite things.

Through her work at Food for Greater Elgin, Emily is helping build organized, effective systems behind the scenes while contributing to a mission that makes a real difference in the community.
