The City of Elgin, in partnership with LRS, will host an electronic waste recycling, bulk item disposal and secure document shredding event from 8-11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 8, at the City of Elgin Public Works facility, 1900 Holmes Road. The event is open to Elgin residents and provides a convenient, local way to recycle unwanted electronics, dispose of large household items and securely destroy sensitive personal documents. Residents must present a valid Illinois driver’s license or state ID showing an Elgin address.

The position of mayor and four councilmember seats on the Elgin City Council, all carrying a four-year term, will be open in the 2027 Elgin municipal election. Petitions for candidacy for the 2027 election are available in the City Clerk’s Office, located in Room 202 of Elgin City Hall, 150 Dexter Court.
