St. Sophia Greek Orthodox Church Hosts its Annual Summer Festival


St. Sophia Church at 525 Church Road in Elgin (Rt. 31 and I-90) will present its 44th annual summer “Greek Fest” the weekend of July 7th, 8th and 9th 2023. The fest will be open on Friday and Saturday from 12 noon to 11pm. Sunday’s hours are 12 noon to 10pm. Six thousand people attend the festival each year – it is open to the public and admission is FREE.

We are proud to serve authentic Greek delicacies such as Gyros, Grecian Chicken, Souvlaki, Pastitsio, Saganaki (the flaming cheese) and Greek Salad – all while enjoying an ice cold LEGENDARY VILLAGE SQUIRE MAI TAI, Greek Beer or Wine.

Feel free to unwind at the Greek Kafenio where many traditional sweets such as Baklava and loukoumathes can be found. Enjoy a cup of Greek or American coffee and peruse through dozens of Greek desserts and cookie varietals.

Friday’s entertainment starts with the high energy Greek Band John Panopoulos Orchestra. Saturday and Sunday features a variety of authentic Greek Music from the band Grecian Formula. We are also proud to feature Greek Dancing all weekend 

What better way to cool off than in our “Plaka” Marketplace inside our church hall where you can shop for fabulous crafts, beautiful jewelry, books, icons, clothing and other treasures.
