The City of Elgin kicks off a new summer concert series at Festival Park in downtown Elgin

Saturday, June 10
5:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.
Festival Park, 132 S. Grove Avenue, Elgin, IL, 60120

The series begins on Saturday, June 10 with “Sk8 Jam,” a celebration of youth and skateboard subculture. This event is free and open to the public. The event includes a pop-up skate park hosted by the newly-opened Syndicate Skatepark, located on McLean Blvd in Elgin. Nineteen different skate park pieces will take over the south half of Grove Avenue, directly next to the park, and become a skatepark for people to enjoy. The north half of the street offers a variety of food trucks including Woogie Rolls, Happy Lobster, and Ben and Jerry’s Ice Cream Truck.

Temporary graffiti walls take over the north half of Festival Park where artists will be creating art for all to enjoy. The south half of the park is dominated by the stage where Spliff will lead off an evening of live music followed by Night Spice, French Police, and headliner Nora Van Elken.

“This event is unlike anything we’ve ever had here,” said special event coordinator, Valerie Jenig. “I am so excited to see the skateboarding happening next to the stage and feel the energy that is going to bring.”

New summer concert series collectible cups, which sync to the stage and light up with the music, will be available at the event. Add a festival sticker to receive a beer and $1 off each beer refill. Bring your cup back all summer long and collect the event sticker at each event.

Residents and visitors are encouraged to bring their lawn chairs and blankets to Festival Park, 132 South Grove for the Sk8 Jam from 5:00 p.m.-10:00 p.m. In the case of bad weather, the event will be canceled. Follow the city of Elgin Facebook page or check the website for weather-related updates.
