Celebrating Economic Development Week
The Elgin Development Group is celebrating Economic Development Week from May 8-12. The purpose is to create awareness of EDG’s economic development initiatives in the areas of Workforce Development, Business Retention, Business Attraction, Business Expansion, Transportation Development, and Enhancing Elgin. These initiatives are important components that when combined create and retain jobs, advance career opportunities for residents, and improve Elgin’s quality of life. All play a factor in bettering Elgin’s economy and future.
The EDG is involved in many initiatives including the Back to Business Grants for Creative Arts, Hotels & Restaurants Program; Bridges Minority Entrepreneurs and Business Group; Scholarship Program; and Business Retention Program. These initiatives and EDG committees play an important economic development role in moving Elgin forward. Economic Development Week is meant to celebrate these volunteers who care so much about Elgin and its future.
