State Representative Anna Moeller

Anna Moeller is State Representative for the Illinois 43rd District and has been a member of the Illinois House of Representatives since March 2014. She serves as the Chairwoman of the Human Services Committee, Vice-Chair of the Human Services, Appropriations Committee and is a member of the Public Utilities, Energy and Environment, Education, K-12 Licensing and Charter School and Healthcare Licensing Committees.  She also serves on the bicameral / bipartisan Commission on Government Forecasting and Accountability (COGFA) and is Chairwoman of the House Democratic Green Caucus. She previously Chaired the Healthcare Licensing Committee and Aging Committee in previous General Assemblies.

Since taking office, Rep. Moeller has championed legislation on pay equity, good-government reforms, environmental protection, increased access to healthcare, care for elderly and developmentally disabled individuals, support for young victims of sexual assault, nursing home reform, pro-choice legislation and bills that advance LGBTQ equality.

Ms. Moeller previously served as the Founding Executive Director of the McHenry County Council of Governments, Assistant Village Administrator for the Village of Lake in the Hills and was elected Councilwoman for the City of Elgin in 2011. Before her career in local government, she was an ESL Teacher at the Inlingua International Language School in Andorra La Vella, the Principality of Andorra, Europe, served as Legislative Aide for former Illinois State Representative Andrea S. Moore, 61st District, and Legislative Intern for former Congressman John Porter, 10th Illinois District in Washington D.C. Ms. Moeller has also served on the Elgin Planning and Development Commission, Elgin Human Relations Commission, Vice-President of Imagine McHenry County, as Vice-President of the Northeast Neighborhood Association of Elgin, Channing Elementary School PTO Treasurer and as an English as a Second Language Tutor for the Literacy Connection.  She is currently a member of the Elgin Branch of the American Association of University Women.

A graduate of Northern Illinois University, Ms. Moeller has a BA in History and Masters Degree in Public Administration (MPA). She has received numerous awards and recognitions including the Paul Simon Courage in Public Service Award from Lutheran Social Services of Illinois, Agent of Change Award by the Illinois Chapter of the American Association of University Women and Environmental Leadership Award by the Illinois Environmental Council. She was named to the inaugural class of the Edgar Fellowship Program by the Institute of Government and Public Affairs at the University of Illinois, Champaign- Urbana in 2012 and Bowhay Institute for Legislative Leadership Fellow by the Council of State Governments in 2018.
