Title: Development Manager
Overall Responsibilities
Accept and support the covenant of HFHI
Support and implement the strategic goals and objectives of Habitat for Humanity of Northern Fox Valley
Work with the Habitat for Humanity Development team to meet the overall development objectives of HFHNFV
Major Duties/Responsibilities
Administrative Responsibilities
 Participate in development of the annual Affiliate budget and development budget
 Work closely with Development Staff and volunteers to create and accomplish fund raising goals
 Recruit, interview and assist in evaluation of any additional Resource Development staff
Functional Responsibilities As Part of the Development Team
 As part of the Development team, prepare, manage and facilitate a resource development strategic plan, update annually according to overall affiliate plans
 Develop and implement Resource strategies and tactics (cash, space, land, materials) including house sponsors
 Participate in the creation of the fiscal year development goals.
 Meet annual resource development goals
 Direct resource development efforts of the Board of Directors and volunteers, including training
 Develop and maintain strong relationships with past, current and future funding sources
 Liaison with Volunteer Manager and Sponsor volunteer integration
 Initiate, develop, monitor and facilitate Planned Giving activities
 Plan, initiate and manage major campaign efforts, including a capital campaign as part of the Strategic Plan
 Oversee maintenance of donor records and acknowledgements
 Manage grant activities
 Liaison with HFHI, Chicagoland Habitat and their Resource Development efforts
Minimum Requirements
 Outstanding oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
 Certification or college degree in fundraising or three years’ experience in resource development, including
corporate, foundation solicitation, and grant writing
 Demonstrated ability to work in team of paid and volunteer staff and to build teams
 Past training experience
 Presentation skills
Reports to: Associate Executive Director
Supervises: Development volunteers
Works with: Staff, Board of Directors, Development Team, committee chairs and other volunteers
Hours: Full Time Position, Flexible Hours (some evenings, some weekends)
