Are you passionate about making a positive impact on the lives of others? Do you have exceptional organizational and interpersonal skills? We have an exciting part-time opportunity for a dedicated Volunteer Engagement Specialist to join our team at Marklund and help us grow our volunteer program in the Elgin and Bloomingdale areas. The position is 20 hours/week with flexible scheduling.

Marklund, a nonprofit organization serving children and adults with profound developmental disabilities, is committed to providing compassionate care and support to our residents and students. We believe that volunteers play a vital role in enhancing the well-being and quality of life for those we serve. As a Volunteer Engagement Specialist, you will have the chance to create meaningful connections between volunteers and our residents, fostering a sense of community and companionship.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Recruit, train, and manage volunteers to ensure a diverse and dedicated team.
  • Take part in outreach opportunities to promote volunteer program in the community.
  • Develop and implement volunteer opportunities that align with the needs and goals of our               residents and students.
  • Match volunteers with appropriate assignments based on their skills, interests and availability.
  • Provide orientation and ongoing support to volunteers, ensuring they have the necessary                 resources and guidance.
  • Develop relationships with staff and collaborate with them to identify areas where volunteers           can make a positive impact and contribute to our residents' and students' well-being.
  • Maintain accurate records of volunteer hours, activities, and feedback.
  • Evaluate and report on the effectiveness of volunteer programs, making recommendations for         improvements.

Experience and Skills

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Previous experience in volunteer coordination or a related field is preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage and motivate volunteers.
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities to juggle multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Empathy, patience, and a compassionate nature when working with residents, volunteers, and       staff.
  • Proficient in using technology and software for record-keeping and communication purposes.
  • A genuine passion for supporting others and a commitment to our organization's mission.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of individuals.
