The Literacy Connection, a non-profit organization based in Elgin, Illinois, is seeking an experienced Executive Director with strong communication, fiscal management, and leadership skills. 


The Literacy Connection was founded in 1984 and has helped adults in Chicago’s Northwest Suburbs learn to read, write, speak, and understand English by providing training, educational materials, and matched volunteer tutors for one-on-one tutoring sessions. Additional programs supporting the agency’s mission include conversation groups for English and citizenship, family literacy programs in neighborhood schools, and workplace literacy classes in local businesses.


The Executive Director will provide leadership to all the functions of the organization, leading strategic efforts to inform and educate potential learners, volunteers, prospective and current donors, and communities around the Elgin area about the mission and impact of The Literacy Connection. They will oversee and ensure implementation of all the programs and proactively secure the availability and reliability of funding sources.

Requirements

Potential applicants should meet the following qualifications:

· Bachelor’s Degree in Adult Education, non-profit administration, or related field

· Management experience, minimum five years

· Grant writing experience required

· Proficiency in various office technology applications including Microsoft Office Suite

· Bilingual in Spanish helpful, but not required
