Employers face a myriad of issues in the workplace. Two issues that that have been highlighted by recent events in the news are concerns over drug use and concerns over violence and weapons in the workplace.
An increasing number of employees are dealing with addiction issues due to the opioid addiction crisis and employers are struggling with the complexity and fine line of competing priorities; wanting to help an employee and minimizing risk to the company.  Similarly, the school shooting in Parkland, Florida, has once again highlighted the potential threat for violence and firearms in the workplace, as well as the potential of risk of not taking affirmative steps to address such risks.
